Framing Things I Love

Framing Things I Love

Roughly five years ago my friend and colleague in consulting, Susan Able, approached me about helping launch EdibleDC Magazine. She knew my love of food so I immediately said yes helping initially with all things digital. That little side project quickly grew taking on sales, event planning, some writing, and even styling. With such a small team there was no project too big or too small.

The illustrated Watermelon cover is probably one of my all time favorites and won an award for best cover. The crab cover was from our first ever sustainability issue and I think just screams DC. (Photo by Kate Headley)

It’s insane to look back on the twenty two issues we’ve pulled together celebrating and supporting local farmers and small businesses across our region. As I settled into my small new studio here in DC I wanted to figure out a way to weave in this side hustle that has honestly changed the direction of my life. Enter Framebridge, a local company that helps you frame the things you love easily.

I went on there website uploaded some of my favorite covers of EdibleDC Magazine and a week or so later these perfectly framed mementos showed up at my door. If you are interested in using Framebridge feel free to use code “AJDC” for 15% of your purchase.

The top poached pear cover I helped style and conceptualize with our creative director Jen Chase. We had shot all these dishes with Pastry Chef Alex Levin but at the end I had this idea to cut them in half and lay them out as so and it was just magi…

The Summer tiki cover was also a shot I helped style with photographer Rey Lopez and I just love how it came out. (Photo by Kate Headley)
